Sarwat Hussain (1949-1996) was a very talented modern Urdu poet. I came across a selection of his poems a few years back (2010) in an anthology of modern Urdu poets compiled by Asif Farrukhi (An Evening with Caged Beasts). Some of his free verse poems, one about a tree and another about a set of tools that belonged to his father (a carpenter, I believe) especially impressed me.
Yesterday (13th June, 2016), my new facebook friend, Mrs. Saltanat Qaiser, herself a brilliant Urdu ghazal poetess (see Saltanat Qaiser's ghazals in Dareechah) suggested that I should consider uploading a selection of Sarwat Hussain's poetry in Dareechah. I am now presenting some of Sarwat Hussain's poems here and will add a section on Sarwat Hussain's ghazals later on in Dareechah.
Aadhay Sayyaray Per (1989) was his first collection of poems.
Khaakdaan (1998) was published posthumously.
