Urdu Songs

A song is a blend of its lyrics, its musical composition and above all, of the passion with which the singer renders the song. A song is primarily a performed art form and is always more than the sum of its parts. I feel that the impact of any song depends predominantly on its musical component and the emotions conveyed by the singer's voice ... songs with mediocre verses are still able to become memorable because of their powerful music!!

On Dareechah's Urdu songs web pages, it will be my endeavor to showcase primarily those songs which have powerful verses.... whose lyrics embody the best of the Urdu language.

Urdu Geet (Urdu Songs) is a rich tradition that has contributed to Art Movies and Art TV plays. I will try to present here some of the more notable Urdu song writers and the list of names shown here will surely grow.

The arrangement of Urdu song web pages on Dareechah will also be a bit different than other Dareechah sections in that there will be:

a section on Modern Urdu songs

and then also web pages dedicated to individual Urdu song writers.
