Soofi Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum, a Persian scholar, a modern Urdu poet and the moving force behind the literary circles of Lahore in the 1940s and 1950s was part of Lahore's prestigious Government College (now a chartered university) and was one of the many reasons why that College had a pre-eminence as far as scholastic credentials of Faculty are concerned. I still remember, as a young college student, watching Soofi Tabassum present the intricacies of the philosophical poetry of Sir Allama Mohammad Iqbal on a series of episodes of his TV show in the early 1970s.
Soofi Tabassum's Urdu Ghazal is fresh with the rush of emotion, the delicate yet powerful use of Urdu words and a style which was his own.
