English Translations of Modern Urdu Poetry

In order to celebrate and popularize modern Urdu poetry,  I have undertaken to translate some poems into English on Dareechah's pages. 

   I have no formal training in translating literature, especially poetry, but I have tried my best. 

   The magic created by the rhythm and the sound of rhyming words in a poem or song is almost lost in translating a poem. Acknowledging this big road block in translating any poem, I have tried to focus on getting the message right.

   In other words, instead of worrying about rhyming each line in my English translation of poems, I have put my energy into finding the correct word or phrase combination that would re-create at least the meaning of each line.  I continue to learn from my mistakes and may be revising what I put out here from time to time.
