Nakhshab Jarchavi (1925-1967) نخشب جارچوی was born in Jarcha, Uttar Pradesh, British India. He graduated from Aligarh Muslim University and moved to Bombay. He was a Film Director of Indian and Pakistani feature films as well as a Poet.
This Urdu Ghazal, Ghabra ke jo hum sar ko, was penned by Nakhshab for the Kamal Amrohi movie Mahal in 1949.
The Urdu Song, Ayega Anewala, is Nakhshab's most famous Urdu song for the Kamal Amrohi debut movie Mahal in 1949 for which Khemchand Prakash composed the melody and which song catapulted Kamal Amrohi and Lata Mangeshkar to fame and fortune . . . not so for Nakhshab who continued to struggle in Bollywood while directing movies like Zeenat with its famous Qawwali featuring Noor Jahan and Zohra Bai Ambalewali Aahein Na bhareen shikway na kiyay, Naghma (1953) and Zindagi Ya Toofan (1958). In 1962, he decided to emigrate to Pakistan.
In Pakistan, his biggest contribution was to introduce music director Rashid Attre and Pakistani actress Firdous in the film Maikhana (1964) . . . both Rashid Attre and Actress Firdous went on to become legends of Pakistani cinema . . .
In 1967, the very talented and flamboyant Poet, Lyricist and Film Director Nakhshab Jarchavi who made some notable movies both in India and then later on in Pakistan met an untimely death at the age of 42 in Karachi, Pakistan.

Link to audio recording of Nakhshab Jarchavi reciting his ghazal in a Poetry Reading (Mushaira). These two ghazals by Nakhshab in his own voice were recorded in a private mushaira in Karachi in the early-1960s . . . he passed away in 1967 at the age of 42.
