Excerpts from Manoj Muntashir Interview with Just Showbiz.com
Manoj Muntashir is a Film Lyricist who got fame by Ye Galliyan of Ek Villain starring Shraddha Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra. He started his career as Lyricist with movie The Great Indian Butterfly and is recipient of the many awards.
How did your journey in the film industry begin?
I was a born writer because writing is an art which we can’t learn, it should be inside us. I always believe that I was born with the talent of writing. By the time I passed class 10 in my home town, I was getting inclined towards writing. In two years, I got call from films. There was no other motivation apart from inner calling.
Who is your inspiration?
Sahir Ludhianvi. He is the greatest lyrics writer in India. He is known for the songs Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai and many amazing songs. The kind of polish and command on the language he has is something that I want to include in my style.
Which song of yours helped you to reach the top?
That has yet to come. That’s all I can say. Right now the song Galliyan from Ek Villain has given me success everywhere. Galliyan has been a cult song and after that Dil Darbadar from PK did very well. Baby also gave me good success and now Leela songs are running all over but what I look forward to is my next film, the Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Aktar starrer Wazir. I really believe that it has got a certain kind of music and flavour which was not been heard by people for long time in terms of poetry.
This song was originally sung by Ankit Tiwari in the movie Ek Villain but in the opinion of Dareechah it has been sung beautifully recently in a remix album by the Pakistani Singer Fadia Shaboroz...
